WEST HARTFORD --  Officials said a bear that was spotted in the backyard of 295 Ridgewood Road in West Hartford Monday morning has been re-located to Litchfield county.

The 250 lb. bear was not aggressive, and had injured its paw in a snare-like trap, according to officials.

Chris Colibee with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said that they had tranquilized the bear, but that it was not put down.

Officials evaluated the severity of the injury to the bear before deciding  that it could be released to the wild.
