MIDDLETOWN — A Clinton man whose online videos of drones firing guns and shooting flames were viewed hundreds of thousands of times has rejected a plea deal in separate cases.

The Hartford Courant reports that 21-year-old Austin Haughwout, of Clinton, faces charges including assault on police officers, risk of injury to a child, enticing a minor, possession of child pornography and attempting fourth-degree sexual assault.

Prosecutors offered Haughwout a three-year suspended sentence and three years of probation in exchange for guilty pleas to interfering with police and third-degree assault. Prosecutors say Haughwout rejected the deal is scheduled to go to trial Sept. 11.

Haughwout’s lawyer has said the charges are “blatantly unconstitutional” and the result of local police’s “obsession” with him.

The weaponized drones did not result in criminal charges.
