BRIDGEPORT — A jury has found a Connecticut man charged with killing a grocery store owner not guilty of murder — but guilty of the robbery that led to the man’s death.

The jury deliberated for three days before reaching their decision Thursday in the case of 21-year-old Treizy Lopez.

Prosecutors say Jose Salgado and his wife were closing up their store in Bridgeport in 2015 when Lopez and 23-year-old Leighton Vanderberg rushed in to steal money from the cash register.

Salgado was shot in the neck, and both Lopez and Vanderberg said the other was the shooter.

Vanderberg pleaded guilty to murder last year and was sentenced to 40 years in prison. Lopez faces up to 45 years in prison at his July 13 sentencing.
