HARTFORD — The Secretary of the State’s office has begun tabulating signatures collected by potential Connecticut governor candidates trying to petition their way onto the August 14 primary ballot.
Late Monday, the office reported 381 signatures for Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim, who hopes to challenge Greenwich businessman Ned Lamont, the Democratic Party’s endorsed candidate. Ganim needs roughly 15,500 signatures from registered Democrats.
The office has so far tabulated 19 signatures for former hedge fund manager David Stemerman of Greenwich and 18 for Madison businessman Bob Stefanowski. Both need slightly more than 9,000 registered Republican signatures to challenge Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, the GOP’s endorsed candidate, in the primary.
Two other Republicans, former Trumbull Mayor Tim Herbst and Westport technology consultant Steve Obstinik received enough delegate support to appear on the ballot.
