BLOOMFIELD - The calm of an early Sunday morning turned chaotic Sunday morning, when a man was shot in the middle of a residential street in Bloomfield. The shooter remains on the loose.

Police were called  at 5 a.m. to the area of 22 Brookdale Street, near Blue Hills Avenue and just over the Hartford line.  They say they found a man in lying  the roadway with numerous gunshot wounds. So far, police will only say that the victim is a 33 year-old man from Hartford.  He was taken to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

It happened in front of Kris Peruccio's house next door. He says he heard the noise and saw a fight before he called 911.

"I saw a fight break out, a guy getting his a** kicked so I figured call 9-1-1 and then I saw the guy shooting and I didn't catch his face or anything, but it was crazy," he says.

FOX61's Taylor DiChello was the first reporter on the scene and says Hartford and Windsor police helped to secure a perimeter around the scene as Bloomfield detectives processed evidence, including a blood trail, in street. But neighbors say it's not the first time police have been called to the address, often coming on weekends to handle noisy parties and other disturbances.

"[The neighbors] are nuts," says Peruccio, who has lived next door for the past 15 years. "I don't know the neighbors per se because they're always polite to me, but they have parties at least two or three times a week."

Police say the shooter was seen leaving in a white vehicle. Anyone with any information is being asked to contact the Bloomfield Police Department  at 860-242-5501.

We'll have a complete report tonight on the FOX61 News at 10 & 11 p.m.
