WEST HAVEN -- Police are investigating an early morning shooting that left one man dead.
Police were called around 1 a.m. to the area of 215 Jaffrey Street on a report of gun shots fired. When they got there, they found one man who with gun shot wounds. He later was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police said the victim, a 36-year-old man, was shot while operating his vehicle in the lot behind the building. The car crashed into the rear of the apartment and caused extensive damage to the building. The man was identified as Jason Roman of Naugatuck.
Power and water were shut off to protect the apartment’s occupants. No other injuries were reported.
Roman was a short distance from the apartment building and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
