BRIDGEPORT — Police in Connecticut’s largest city are investigating a complaint by a city councilwoman who says officers used excessive force while apprehending her 15-year-old son.
Bridgeport Councilwoman Karen Jackson’s son was apprehended last month when he and other teens fled from officers after allegedly trespassing in a resident’s yard.
Jackson tells the Connecticut Post officers acted inappropriately for the boy’s age and the severity of the infraction. She says police used an electronic stun gun on the boy and beat him, leaving scratches on his leg, arm, face and back. The boy checked out at the hospital.
Police Chief Armando Perez confirmed that Internal Affairs is investigating. He says while “everything was on the up and up” he is uncomfortable with the use of a stunning weapon on a teenager.
