Southington restaurant gives back to community

SOUTHINGTON -- 'Smoking with Chris' in Southington is more than what meets the eye.

The owner, Chris Conlon, explains that the restaurant is about the food they serve but also the impact they have on their community.

“I think it's very important as a business owner, as a small business owner especially, to give back to the community -- not in order to receive something back, but to give something back to the all the people in need,” said Conlon.

Although their days start early, that doesn't stop them from interacting with customers and making sure every person has a great experience.

“We really have a good time out here and everything we do is from the heart,” Conlon said.

The restaurant's impact on their community is built on the partnership they hold with the YMCA, local food banks, and civic organizations as they are giving time and donating food.

Peter Kobani, who has been dining at the restaurant for eight years, explains that the food is everyone’s favorite part. However, what the restaurant does for the community is what shines the most in the customer's eyes.

“[...]There’s a lot of people down here all the time. He’s very good to the community,” said Kobani.
