Waterbury man charged with sexual assault of 2 children

WATERBURY  — A Waterbury man is facing multiple counts of sexual assault in connection with the alleged molestation of two children.

The Republican American reports that 43-year-old Eric Benjamin, of Waterbury, remains jailed on bonds totaling $675,000 in connection with an investigation that began as a missing person’s case earlier September.

The missing woman, a college student, told police she didn’t respond to Benjamin’s texts or phone calls because she was trying to escape from him because he had sexually assaulted her.

She told detectives the assaults had occurred from the time she was about 12 and had continued multiple times a month until about August.

A second girl alleges Benjamin sexually assaulted her beginning when she was about 9 years old.

No attorney for Benjamin was listed in online court records.
