HARTFORD -- Hartford Police said at least one person is in custody following a crash that sent people to the hospital.

Police said just after 10 p.m. Thursday, they tried conducting a traffic stop on Broad Street at Ward Street.

The car at first stopped, but then went on driving north on Broad Street. Officers didn't chase the car since they only had motor vehicle violations. Officers told dispatch of the car's direction of travel, and stated they weren't pursuing.

Shortly after, the car crashed into another at Broad Street and Capitol Avenue.

The suspects fled from the car on foot, but were caught shortly after with help from the Capitol Police. The people in the car that were struck suffered non-life threatening injuries, and were taken to Hartford Hospital.

Police said Ricardo Gonsales, 21, from Hartford, was arrested and charged with failure to obey, disobeying an officer's signal, and evading amond other charges.
