It's a busy day not only for voters, but the people they are voting for!
Jahana Hayes, Democratic Congressional candidate for Connecticut's 5th district, voted at Tyrrell Middle School in Wolcott this morning.
Manny Santos, the Republican Congressional candidate for Connecticut's 5th district, voted at Israel Putnam Elementary in Meriden. He's expected to vote at 11 a.m.
Oz Griebel, the unaffiliated candidate for Governor, voted this morning in Hartford.
Ned Lamont, the Democratic candidate for Governor is voting this morning at Greenwich High School.
Polling Problems
A hitch at Hartford voting district 21 stemming from a wrong set of keys caused a setback for voters. The moderator tells FOX61 they had the wrong set of keys for a box, which houses everything from the tabulator, to signage, to the ballots. Once they got that box open with the right set of keys, the tabulator was not accepting ballots because of a lock mechanism that was blocking them from being scanned in, and spitting them back out.
By 6:20 a.m. they used a screwdriver to pry that mechanism to the side, allowing ballots through. Then, by 6:27 a.m., a print out from the machine showed it was up and running normally.
The moderator says she is thankful for the voter's patience, and is happy it did not take longer to address. The Secretary of The State's office said anyone who was not able to vote at this polling place because of this issue should use the hotline. The Office of the Secretary of the State and the State Election Enforcement Commission jointly run an Election Day hotline. If voters encounter any problems at the polling place they should contact the hotline at 866-733-2463 (866-SEEC-INFO) or elections@ct.gov.
