Litchfield county is under a flood watch until 1 PM tomorrow espcially for areas that are poorly drained areas or with storm drains clogged with leaves. Also, if you live by the shoreline brief minor flooding in vulnerable areas especially during high tide is something to watch.

Tonight, wide spread rain will sweep the state with brief heavy down pours. This storm is fast moving so any localized heavy downpours will be short lived. If you have plans to sleep in tomorrow morning, you might miss the rain!

By the time 7AM arrives the conditions should begin to improve. Expect low level clouds and some areas of fog to stick around for part of your Sunday morning though. Partial clearing is expected as we head into the early evening.

Our next round of showers comes on Monday. You should be able to get the kids off to school and drive to work without encountering any showers.  By the early afternoon an isolated shower is not out of the question before wide spread rain enters the picture around 2-3PM. So that means your commute home will be a bit soggy.

Windshield whippers may be going a bit fast at times. Similar to tonight's storm, it is a fast moving storm so any heavy downpours will be short lived. However, this one does linger into Tuesday early morning. All told, we will receive around 1 to 2 inches total from both storms.

We get another shot of cooler air after the front moves through. However, this airmass will be cooler than average and dry, but far from the excessive cold we saw on Thanksgiving. Expect temps to hover around 40 through the remainder of the week.

FORECAST DETAILS:

TONIGHT: Rain. Low: upper 30s to near 40.

SUNDAY: Early showers then some clearing. High: upper 40s.

MONDAY: Chance for showers. High: Near 50.

TUESDAY: Partly sunny. High: Low 40s

WEDNESDAY: Partly Cloudy. High: Upper 30s to 40.
