EAST HARTFORD -- Police say an early morning car crash was the result of a police chase and armed robbery at a 7-Eleven in East Hartford early Tuesday morning.
A clerk reported that two men robbed the convenience store, located at 393 Burnside Avenue, around 1:30 in the morning, according to police.
A spokesperson for the East Hartford Police Department said surveillance video shows a man, Quinnshawn Ross, wielding a shotgun during the robbery.
"I'm kind of worried," said Joan Peters, who lives nearby and frequents the 7-Eleven. "I never saw anything like that here."
According to a spokesperson for 7-Eleven, the clerk who was on duty Tuesday morning is in good condition.
"I personally know the owner and workers here for the last seven years," said Anton Trojanowski, who works for the town of East Hartford. "They're great, hardworking people."
Just after that 1:30 a.m. report, an officer saw a car with three people inside of it leaving the area. The officer followed the car onto I-84, the driver got off the highway in Hartford and then he tried to get back on. That was when he crashed on the on-ramp, and video of that scene was captured in FOX61 exclusive video.
After the crash, police said three men -- Quinnshawn Ross, Thomas Ross and Dorian McGhee -- ran from the car but officers caught up to them and took them into custody.
Police said the man holding the gun has four previous arrests for robbery. He was sentenced to 9 years in prison in 2010 and was paroled in April.
The three men appeared in court in Manchester on Tuesday. McGhee and Quinnshawn Ross were held on $250,000 bond. Thomas Ross was held on $100,000 bond. All three are scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court on December 13.
