GUILFORD -- Police have arrested a juvenile in connection with the death of a friend who accidentally shot himself in the head, while the victim's parents are calling for a tougher state gun storage law.
Fifteen-year-old Ethan Song died at a friend's home in Guilford in January. Authorities said the handgun had been stored in a master bedroom closet. Police say no adults were home at the time.
Guilford police charged another juvenile who was at the home with manslaughter Monday. The teen's name wasn't disclosed.
Song's parents on Tuesday blamed gun owner Daniel Markle and called for a stricter gun storage law.
A prosecutor said criminal charges against Markle were not warranted under the current law, because there was no evidence the stored gun was loaded before the shooting.
