DANBURY — A lawyer for the Connecticut woman injured when police shot and killed her son has filed notice of intent to sue the city of Danbury.
The News-Times reported Friday that a lawyer for Linda Mae Arbitelle says his client is seeking damages for assault, battery, civil rights violations, excessive force, negligence, emotional distress and failure to properly train and supervise officers.
Arbitelle remains in the hospital after being shot last weekend in the same confrontation that resulted on the death of her son, 45-year-old Paul Arbitelle. Police say he had a knife and charged at officers responding to reports of a suspicious man at the senior housing complex where his mother lives.
Mayor Mark Boughton says it appears the shooting was justified and the city will “defend our position vigorously.”
