Nonprofits to receive $31M in state grants

HARTFORD — Nearly $31 million in state grants is being distributed to 92 nonprofit organizations throughout Connecticut.

The funding is part of the Nonprofit Grant Program , which helps groups pay for one-time infrastructure improvements designed to improve an agency’s efficiency and effectiveness. It was created by outgoing Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy in 2013.

Recipients of the latest round of funding include Visiting Nurse Services of Connecticut in Bridgeport, which is receiving $310,000 to purchase laptops for clinicians, and the Noank Community Support Services in Groton, which is receiving $50,000 to renovate a kitchen at a group home.

TEAM Inc. in Derby is set to receive $92,700 to replace a vehicle used to deliver Meals on Wheels, while Middlesex Hospital has been awarded $1.3 million to improve electronic medical records.
