WINDSOR LOCKS — U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal plans to highlight how air traffic controllers and other federal workers in Connecticut are being affected by the partial federal government shutdown.
The Democrat will appear Monday at Bradley International Airport with Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration workers to discuss the ramifications of them working without pay during the furlough.
A local air traffic controller, transportation security officer, aviation safety inspector and an airway transportation systems specialist are each expected to share their personal stories of how the shutdown is affecting their lives, their families and their ability to do their jobs safely.
Connecticut AFL-CIO President Sal Luciano is also scheduled to be on hand.
About 1,500 federal employees who live or work in Connecticut are estimated to be impacted by the shutdown.
