BRIDGEPORT — Police have made an arrest in connection with a fatal weekend shooting in Bridgeport.
The Connecticut Post reports that a 50-year-old man was struck by gunfire in front of a Reservoir Avenue gas station just after 9 a.m. Sunday.
Police quickly developed information about a suspect and arrested 39-year-old Jayvell Washington a few hours after the shooting.
Washington was charged with murder and held on $1 million bond pending arraignment on Monday. It could not be determined if he has a lawyer.
The victim’s name has not been made public pending autopsy results, but police say they recovered a handgun the victim possessed at the time of the shooting.
The death was the city’s second homicide of the year.
