FARMINGTON -- The annual Penguin Plunge took place Sunday, raising money for Special Olympics Connecticut (SOCT).

The plunge took place at Winding Trails in Farmington. Almost 200 people registered!

Among those who participated: community and corporate groups, along with school teams who were part of the 'Cool School Challenge'. Also taking part, friends, family members, and Special Olympics athletes attended and participated.

SOCT says the plunge gives people an opportunity to come together with friends and other warm-hearted individuals in their community to have fun and d good.

Participants jump into the chilly waters of a lake or ocean in an exciting, festive atmosphere and earn great incentive prizes by raising money online to support Special Olympics' year-round sports, health, and fitness programs for individuals of all abilities.
