Suspect wanted in Hamden armed robbery

HAMDEN — Hamden Police say they are looking for a man after an armed robbery Saturday night.

Police say around 7:45 p.m., a 19-year-old Hamden resident was walking home after closing up the Citgo Cas Station at 1978 State Street.

Moments after he started walking, he was approached by a man who had a gun, according to police.

Police say the suspect “stuck” the gun against the victim’s stomach while demanding money. The suspect then pistol-whipped the victim, hitting him on the top of the head, police report.

The victim was held at gunpoint, and ordered to walk back to the gas station. One there, police say the victim was forced to open the cash register and remove the contents. Police say the suspect then ran off on Franklin Road.

Police and K9 units tried to track the suspect, but he was not found. The suspect is described as a black male, around 40 years old, 5’9″ to 6″ and wearing dark clothing.
