MIDDLETOWN — Officials say everyone made it out safe when a fire spread from the basement to the attic in a Spring Street home.

Officials weren’t sure how many people were inside at the time, but a family woke up to smoke detectors in the basement. One person went down and saw the fire, and promptly got everyone out of the house.

Middletown Health is working with the family to help them relocate.

There was smoke damage inside the home but it was contained to a small section.
