NORWICH —  And adult and a child were sent to the hospital after flames ripped through a home in Norwich Sunday night.

Officials say first responders were called to 19 McKinley Avenue area around 9:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found heavy fire on the second floor.

Earlier reports indicated two children were injured. Officials later said it was an adult and a child.

Five people were inside the home at the time of the fire: two adults and three children. Two of the children were taken to Backus Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Norwich Firefighters Local 892 Facebook page, posted a video of the fire.

Officials say mutual aid was called in, and the fire took about an hour and 20 minutes to get under control.

Norwich Public Utilities said that the fire has impacted power for part of Downtown Norwich.
