New Haven teen injured in overnight shooting

NEW HAVEN — Police say a 17-year-old was taken to the hospital after a shooting in New Haven.

Police say they do not believe the shooting was related to Thursday night’s protests.

According to police, the shooting happened around 12:15 a.m. during a ‘social gathering’ on Willow Street between Mitchell Drive and Nash Street.

The 17-year-old boy was taken to Yale-New Haven hospital for non-life threatening injuries. A 15-year-old girl was also injured by some glass fragments and was treated at the scene.

Witnesses to the shooting are asked to call the New Haven Police Department Detective Bureau at 203-946-6304.  Callers may remain anonymous.
