NEW HAVEN -- New Haven police officers responded to reports of a shooting that left at man in critical condition.
Police were called to the car crash on Division Street and Sheffield Avenue in the Newhallville neighborhood shortly before 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
Officers found a car crashed into a bus stop on Division Street near Sheffield Avenue and the gunshot victim outside a nearby residence.
The victim, a 32-year-old New Haven man, suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
Officials believe the victim was operating the crashed vehicle. He was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital where police say he is in critical condition.
No pedestrians were at the bus stop and no other injuries were reported.
