EAST WINDSOR – Connecticut State Police say three people were injured in a head-on crash on I-91 South early Saturday morning.

The crash happened about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, on the southbound side of the highway between exits 45 and 44 in East Windsor. Police say a white Honda Civic driven by 24 year old Dashawn McDaniel of Springfield, MA was headed south in the center lane. That car collided with another Honda Civic, a red one, driven by Richard Mingione of Branford. That car was headed north in the center lane on the southbound side of 91.

McDaniel was transported to Hartford Hospital with serious injuries. Mingione and his passenger, 30-year-old Lyle Olson of Montville, were taken to Saint Francis Hospital.

The right-hand and center lanes were closed for several hours after the crash, but reopened just before 6:30 a.m.

The crash is still under investigation.

(This article was updated to correct number of injured, and Olson’s status as passenger.)
