Police investigating crash in New Haven; 2 people injured after being ejected

NEW HAVEN -- Police said two people were ejected from a car following a two-carcrash Saturday night.

Police said shortly before 7:30 pm, a patrol sergeant came upon a crash at the intersection of Wilmot Road and Brookside Avenue in the West Rock neighborhood.  A car turning onto Brookside Avenue was struck by another vehicle.  Two people in the car that was turning were ejected upon impact with the other car.

The sergeant found the ejected crash victims lying in the roadway and immediately summoned EMTs. Police said five people between the ages of 17 and 21 had been in the vehicle at the time of crash.

The other car was unoccupied upon arrival of police.  Witnesses told police two people fled on foot from that vehicle.

The two ejected crash victims were taken by ambulance to Yale-New Haven Hospital with serious injuries.  The two victims remain hospitalized in stable condition as of Monday afternoon.

The NHPD Accident Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene.
