Two taken to hospital after car slams into Newtown house

NEWTOWN — Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue said that two people were taken to the hospital after a car slammed into a house on Cherry Street.

The crash happened around 9:20 a.m. and extrication was needed. There was a propane tank leaking onto the street, but rescue crews managed to shut it off.

Both the driver and the homeowner were taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is not known.
