Easton man dead after falling into Norwalk River

NORWALK — Police say 62-year-old Jozef Gorski from Easton is dead after falling into the Norwalk River Sunday night.

According to police, they were called to 1 Selleck Street just before 9:30 p.m. after a report of a man falling into the river and not surfacing.

First responders began searching for Gorski. Stamford fire crews also responded to the scene with their on-duty dive crew. They managed to find Gorski underwater and brought him to the surface. He was taken to Norwalk Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses told police that it appeared Gorski slipped while stepping off a boat onto the dock.

Detectives are investigating, and are awaiting autopsy results from the Officer of the Cheif Medical Examiners.
