HARTFORD — Several people are displaced following a fire at a 3-story apartment building on Martin Street in Hartford Friday morning.
Emergency crews responded to reports of a fire coming from a multi-unit apartment building shortly before 4 a.m.
A third floor resident told firefighters he left the stove on overnight and believes that’s what started the fire, but the Fire Marshal is on scene investigating to confirm the cause.
Crews found water and smoke damage in a few apartments.
All residents were able to safely evacuate.
According to Hartford Fire Department’s Deputy Chief Kenneth Kowal, two residents suffered injuries.
One for smoke inhalation and the other for an illness — both residents refused to be transported to hospitals, but were treated on scene by EMS.
Martin Street is back open to traffic.
