NEW HAVEN — A Connecticut school board member who prosecutors say was part of a scheme to defraud the Illinois-based company he worked for has pleaded guilty to mail and wire fraud.East Haven Board of Education member John T. Finkle III said after court

Tuesday he didn’t know yet what he would do regarding his elected office.

Prosecutors say the 57-year-old Finkle and two other men defrauded the electronic components supplier of more than $3 million between February 2015 and December. The judge acknowledged that Finkle disputed the amount.

Finkle could face up to 20 years in prison at sentencing scheduled for Oct. 8. He remains free on $500,000 bond.

Prosecutors agreed to drop two other counts that could have added 40 years to a sentence.
