WINDSOR LOCKS  — Bradley International Airport in Connecticut has broken ground on a $210 million transportation center, promised to be a “huge customer service improvement.”

Connecticut Airport Authority Executive Director Kevin Dillon said Thursday the facility will consolidate all rental car companies across from the passenger terminal, eliminating the task of taking a shuttle to pick up a rental car outside the airport.

Borrowing for the new facility, scheduled to open in three years, will be repaid with rental car fees.

There will also be additional parking and a transit center that will link passengers with bus service, including a route to the Windsor Locks station on the Hartford Line.

Dillon says there are ongoing efforts to eventually build a light rail link between the airport and the commuter rail service.
