Waterbury police seek driver in deadly hit and run

WATERBURY — Police in Waterbury are asking for the public’s help in tracking down the car and driver involved in a deadly hit and run.

Authorities say 69 year old Henry Pearson, of Waterbury, was crossing North Main Street near Brewster Street at about 2:20 a.m. Saturday when he was struck by a vehicle. Investigators say the car did not stop after the crash. Pearson was taken to the hospital, but died from his injuries.

Police are seeking help from anyone who might have information about the vehicle, which is described as a dark-colored sedan that was loud, perhaps a loud exhaust or muffler. Nearby security cameras captured images of the vehicle.

Anyone with information to help the police identify the operator and vehicle involved in this accident is asked to call Officer Frank Lee of the Waterbury Police Traffic Unit at (203) 346-3975.
