HIGGANUM — A vehicle erupted in flames following a motor vehicle accident Friday afternoon.
The collision occurred along Route 81 near Three Oaks Plaza. The operator took down a utility pole, which sparked the massive fire.
Connecticut State Police said no one was injured in the crash or subsequent blaze.
Route 81 will remain closed near the Route 9 highway entrance until Eversource completes repairs. As of 8 a.m. Saturday, the road was still closed.
