WESTERLY, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island teenager who caused a wrong-way crash that killed three people and injured three others on Interstate 95 in Connecticut was driving with a suspended license.

WPRI-TV reports the driving record for 17-year-old Abigayl Lanphear, of Westerly, shows her license was suspended in December after she violated the terms of her youth license.

Details of the violations haven’t been released.

The records also show Lanphear was involved in an accident in Westerly last year.

The crash on Interstate 95 in North Stonington on Wednesday killed Lanphear and a couple in the other car, 84-year-old Roger Noel and 83-year-old Dorothy Noel, of West Warwick, Rhode Island.

Injured were a 17-year-old passenger in Lanphear’s car and two passengers in the Noels’ car.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
