HEBRON - Three
Wesleyan University
students are currently being treated for injuries after a boating accident at Amston Lake in Hebron.

Around 3:30 p.m., State Police, Environmental Conservation Police and Emergency Services arrived on scene, where several people who were boating in a canoe, were in need of help along the shoreline.

Police report that the three students, two 19-year-old women and one 19-year-old man, were injured during the accident.

One of the women was taken to Hartford Hospital by a Life Star Helicopter where she remains in intensive care.

The other two students were taken to the Middlesex Health clinic in Marlborough for evaluation.

The incident remains under investigation by the Environmental Conservation Police, who say that all three were wearing life-jackets.

Amston Lake is shared by three towns: Hebron, Lebanon, and Colchester. It's about a 40-minute drive from the Wesleyan campus in Middletown.

Students are off this week for their fall break. In a statement to FOX61, a university spokesperson said:

"We have been in touch with the families, are providing support for the students involved, and assisting authorities investigating the incident. The health and safety of our students is paramount, and we are all hoping for the student’s recovery. We will provide updates when available."
