PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The governors of Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut are gathering for a private meeting to discuss issues of regional importance to the three states.

Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo, a Democrat, is hosting Republican Gov. Charlie Baker of Massachusetts and Democratic Gov. Ned Lamont of Connecticut on Thursday. They’re meeting at Rhode Island College in Providence.

The governors held their first private meeting with one another in July at Eastern Connecticut State University, an event organized by Lamont.

They said they found common ground on issues such as transportation, improved data sharing and renewable energy.

They promised to continue working together and agreed to reconvene in the fall in Providence.

The governors from several Northeastern states said last week that they want to collaborate to regulate marijuana and vaping.
