HARTFORD — More than 47,000 Eversource customers lost power early Friday morning, thanks to high winds in Connecticut.

The outages were scattered around the service area, but quickly grew as the night wore on.

At 2:30 a.m. Friday Bristol had 2,660 Eversource customers without power, the highest number in the state. Thompson was at 2,588, about 55 percent of customers in that town, according to Eversource’s website. East Hartford had 2,292 customers in the dark.

97 percent of the company’s customers in North Branford were without power, but that percentage only represents 48 customers.

 

 

The statewide outages affected 3.75 percent of Eversource’s customers in Connecticut, as of 2:30 a.m.

In the New Haven area, United Illuminating reported 600 customers without power at 1:00 a.m., with 34 “events” across its service area. By 2:30 a.m. the company was reporting more than 9,000 customers in the dark, with 106 “events.” UI’s hardest hit town was Milford, with 2,988 customers with lights out (about 10 percent of town).
