CANTON — The Canton Volunteer Fire & EMS Department battled a structure fire early Sunday morning with the help of surrounding towns.
Smoke alarms alerted the residents, and all were able to evacuate with no injuries.
A report came in around 3:30 a.m. concerning a fire on the deck of a house located on Cherry Brook Road in North Canton. When crews arrived, they saw plumes of smoke coming up from the back deck.
Firefighters pulled the line through the front door and successfully contained the fire.
The scene was cleared by 5:00 a.m. after an overhaul of the deck area and thermal imaging was completed on the home to assess damages.
The fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office.
