HARTFORD – The city of Hartford says that they will open a warming center at the Arroyo Community Center in Pope Park tonight as the city braces for first full-fledged winter storm.
A release from the Office of Mayor Luke Bronin says that center will be open for 36 hours, from 7 p.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. on Monday. The city does not plan to institute a parking ban on Sunday, saying “We expect a mix of snow and rain to result in several inches of slushy mix. Even though there is no snow parking ban, residents are encouraged to move cars to off street parking if possible because it helps the city plow more effectively. The City still expects a drawn out snow event… Therefore, a snow parking ban is still a possibility for Monday.”
