CONNECTICUT, USA — FOX61 News announced Monday a new addition to its afternoon and evening news.
Sara Sanchez will be joining Brent Hardin as co-anchor of FOX61 News at 5 and 11 p.m.
Sanchez joins FOX61 News from KMIR in Palm Springs, Calif. At KMIR, Sanchez served as a news anchor since 2017.
“Sara is a seasoned journalist, anchor and proven leader in the newsroom with an outstanding track record,” said FOX61/CW20 president and general manager Humberto Hormaza. “I am excited she will be joining our family at FOX61 in Hartford and look forward to her many contributions.”
While at KMIR, Sanchez was part of an award-winning evening news team, covering major stories including elections, wildfires and the environmental disaster on the Salton Sea.
“Sara has a track record of success at every newsroom she has worked in,” said Richard Washington, III, news director for FOX61/CW20. “We couldn’t be more thrilled that she will be bringing that credibility to our team of veteran journalists at FOX61.”
Sanchez began her journalism career at KULR in Billings, Mont. There, she helped launch a statewide morning newscast called Wake Up Montana. During her time there, Sanchez covered the 2016 gubernatorial and presidential campaigns, breaking news, and major winter storms.
“I’m excited to join such a stellar and dynamic news team,” said Sanchez. “Brent Hardin, Rachel Frank and the rest of the FOX61 team have such a passion for the community, and I am looking forward to be part of such a strong news organization.”
Sanchez is a California native and says she is looking forward to Connecticut with her family and Pekingese Chunk.
