Family-friendly events in Connecticut this weekend, July 26-28

From sea glass to scenic jazz, midsummer delights to sunflower heights, here are the festivals and other events happening in Connecticut this weekend!

CONNECTICUT, USA — As we enter the final weekend of July, the weather will be great to head out and enjoy some summertime events across Connecticut!

The 64th Lebanon Country Fair kicks off Friday and will run until Sunday! It's a family fun weekend filled with entertainment, rides, exhibits, competitions, and a good taste of all things in eastern Connecticut. Admission is $10 with children 12 and under free. Learn more about the Lebanon Country Fair here.

Get your groove on in Waterbury this Friday! Head to the Mattatuck Museum from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. for Summer Salsa Night! It's the only rooftop terrace in downtown Waterbury that overlooks the green for a night full of dance, music, and culinary delights! There will be DJs, live bands, food, and plenty of surprises. If you can't make it this Friday, there will be another night in August and September. Learn more about the event here.

Head to the rolling Litchfield Hills all weekend, Friday to Sunday, to tap your foot along to the Litchfield Jazz Festival! Established over 25 years ago, it's the public face of the non-profit Litchfield Performing Arts, while Litchfield Jazz Camp is its heart. The festival will feature talented performers and concerts all weekend long, along with a Sunday jazz brunch fundraiser and the Friday Night opening gala. Get lost!... at the Hartford Yard Goats-themed sunflower maze at Lyman Orchards! The maze opens Saturday at 9 a.m. and will feature the Hartford Yard Goats' mascot, Chompers, who will stick around to take pictures at the Apple Barrel Farm Marker after the opening ceremony. There will also be other activities at the Apple Barrel Farm Market with a petting farm, yard games, live music, and bingo! Learn more about this family-friendly all-day event here.

What's a better way to celebrate summer than heading to the Old Lyme Midsummer Festival? The event will take place on Saturday, and it's a mix of local artists and businesses celebrating the arts in Old Lyme! It will feature music, art exhibitions, and food. The festival has been running for 30 years and will kick off Friday evening with an outdoor concert and dancing at the Florence Griswold Museum. Saturday's festival runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn more here.

Ridgefield is also celebrating summer this weekend with the Ridgefield 2024 Summerfest! This festival will take place in downtown Ridgefield on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature craft vendors, sidewalk sales, a touch-a-truck, carnival games, and more family fun! And finally, celebrate artistry and the sea at the 18th International Sea Glass Festival at Mystic Seaport Museum! The festival runs on Saturday and Sunday. It'll feature creations and collections of International See Glass Artists (ISGA), and attendees can learn more about sea and beach glass from experts. You can even enter a Sea Glass contest on Sunday! Admission is included in the ticket price to the museum and is free for members. Learn more about the event here.
