Things to check out this weekend in Connecticut, Nov. 3-5

It's the first weekend of November! With the transition beginning between fall and winter, here are some late-season events to check out!

CONNECTICUT, USA — Welcome to the first weekend of November! Fall is ebbing away and chillier temps are settling in but this weekend will be a beautiful one to get out there and enjoy local events!

With Halloween done, many are now shifting into holiday season mode! All is merry and bright at the New England Christmas Festival happening Friday through Sunday at Mohegan Sun! The event will feature over 350 arts, crafts, and specialty food pop-up shops. Find unique holiday gifts for loved ones if you want "something more." The festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and then from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Learn more about the event and book tickets here.

Dinosaurs will take center stage in Hartford this weekend as the Jurassic World Live Tour heads to the XL Center from Friday to Sunday! Jurassic World comes to life against a backdrop of captivating scenery where dinosaurs from the iconic franchise, some more than 40 feet in length, delight audiences of all ages. The production will feature more than 24 film-accurate, live-sized dinosaurs with scale, speed, and ferocity operated by animatronics and performers. The pre-show begins one hour before showtime. It's the last weekend to experience the 2023 Trail of Terror season in Wallingford! The 4-acre large labyrinth of everything spooky, scary, and Halloween is sure to delight anyone who dares to enter! The last dates to experience this haunted trail are Friday and Saturday. Parental discretion is advised as the Trail of Terror is not recommended for children under the age of 10. It's also the final weekend to walk down the yellow brick road in Lyman Orchard's "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" themed corn maze! In the maze, you'll learn how "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" story came to be, how it has influenced pop culture, and you'll even learn about the history of other popular fairytales. One dollar of each admission will be donated to support the American Cancer Society. Learn more about when you can visit here.

Also happening at Lyman Orchards this weekend is the Pie Run Road Race! It's a race that takes participants through the hilly orchards and Middlefield community. There are three running options: 3.7 miles, 5.4 miles, and a Kids Fun Run. And yes, all paid participants will receive their own 6" Lyman Orchards pie to celebrate with afterward! The race will happen on Saturday with the Kid's Fun Run beginning at 8:15 a.m. and the other two courses beginning at 8:30 a.m. Learn more here.
