From theater performances, ice skating, and so much more -- here's what's happening in Connecticut this weekend the whole family can enjoy!

CONNECTICUT, USA — While the state is set to get its first measurable, plowable snow this weekend, that doesn't mean you can't still go out and enjoy some fun activities in the new year!

The story of an extraordinary girl who revels in the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination comes to New London this Friday and Saturday. "Matilda," performed by Broadway Kids & Co., will show at the Garde Arts Center for an evening performance beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, and two performances on Saturday, one at 1 p.m. and another at 7 p.m. Learn more about the performance and book tickets here.

It's a night of magic and enhancement as Disney on Ice presents Magic in the Stars, coming to the XL Center in Hartford from Thursday to Sunday! Join Disney On Ice for this magical journey with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy through timeless tales with other beloved Disney characters. There will be various times for the performance and Character Experiences. Learn more about the event and book tickets here.

A "pop"ular show is coming back to Connecticut on Saturday! Bubblemania, featuring comic bubble artist Casey Carle, bursts onto the stage with a flair of showmanship and an infectious energy to entertain, delight, and dazzle audiences. The one-man show features spontaneous comedy, jazzy music, and brilliant bubbling! The show will happen at The Palace Theatre in Waterbury at 3 p.m. Learn more about the show and book tickets here.

It's the FINAL weekend to enjoy Winterfest Hartford! This event has become a holiday tradition for families all over the state. Winterfest offers free public skating, free learn-to-skate programs, skate rentals, and performances by local artists. The event is free with street parking on Elm Street and Jewell Street, with on-street parking available on all other trees after 6 p.m. on weekends, all day on weekends. Winterfest runs daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The final day is Jan. 7. Learn more here.

Go and celebrate the music and performance of Led Zeppelin with "Get The Led Out," a Philedelphia-based group of six veteran musicians intent on delivering Led Zeppelin live like you've never heard before! Using multi-instrumentalists, GTLO re-creates the iconic songs with studio overdubs that Zeppelin themselves never performed. It's a high-energy Zeppelin concert with honest and heart-thumping intensity. GTLO will be performing Friday, 8 p.m. at The Oneglia Auditorium in Torrington. And finally, with the snow coming this weekend, be sure to check out the slopes that are open for the season in the state! This includes Ski Sundown in New Hartford, Mount Southington in Plantsvilleand Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall.
