From winter festivals, holiday lights and Santa - here's what's happening in Connecticut this weekend!

CONNECTICUT, USA — The winter chill will return this weekend, making it seasonable to get out and enjoy some holiday events around the state! If you need some ideas, check below!

The Glow Hartford - Holiday Light Festival & Market is happening at the Connecticut Convention Center. This is a one-of-a-kind holiday light experience that is back and bigger than ever! Throughout the festival, families can enjoy interactive exhibits and displays made from twinkling lights, along with a glowing playground! There will also be live entertainment, free photos with Santa, a "Glow-comotive" train, and a winter market that showcases local artisans and businesses. The festival and market event runs until Dec. 29.

Head to the Berlin Fairgrounds for the 2nd Annual Lions Christmas Tree Walk. It's a holiday celebration that transforms the Berlin Fairgrounds into a breathtaking Winter Wonderland of Christmas trees, lights, and festive decorations. You can stroll through a dazzling display of trees by local businesses, organizations, and community members. On Friday, you can visit the event and help Boxes to Boots, a local organization that supports veterans. You can check their website for what's needed for donations. Then, on Saturday, the event's final night, you can help support the Salvation Army and its important work by donating to its holiday initiatives, including its Red Kettle Campaign.

Powder Ridge in Middlefield has kicked off its popular Winterfest event! Transport yourself to a magical Winter Wonderland, snow included! This unique experience features a variety of themed activities, including snow tubing, Santa's igloo, a snow play area, and carnival games. There will also be live music, food trucks, and an ice bar! Don't worry if you can't make it this weekend, though - this festival will be happening throughout the month!

Down at the shore is an iconic light display: the Lobster Trap Tree in Stonington has returned for a fourth season! The tree of stacked lobster traps will feature hand-painted buoys from professional artists and local families. The lighting will kick off the season on Saturday, starting at 4:30 p.m., and the tree will be accessible day and night until Jan. 5, 2025. The tree is located at 1 High Street in Stonington.

It's a dazzling sight to behold at Lyman Orchards! Happening this weekend and lasting until Feb. 9 is the Lyman Orchards Winter Lantern Festival! It's a bright world featuring over 1,000 Chinese lanterns, all handmade by artisans with decades of experience. This is a whimsical, outdoor walk-through experience to light up and warm up the season! There's something to captivate visitors of all ages, and it will also feature seasonal treats!

Get dazzled this season at Glow Wild at Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo! It's the final weekend to experience this event, and and it takes you on a journey through a wonderland of illuminated, larger-than-life lanterns inspired by the zoo's wild world. This display spans the width and breadth of the zoo's 30 acres, and guests are invited to walk through the glowing corridors. The display features flora and fauna that will light up the night sky and is designed for all ages to enjoy!
