CONNECTICUT, USA — Looking for something to do this first weekend in May? There are plenty of things to check out with friends and family around the entire state!
First up, the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme is hosting a Carnival Day! It's to help celebrate the current pop art exhibit at the museum. This event is for the whole family! Enjoy special tours of the museum, face painting, bounce houses, and petting zoo. There will also be food trucks, arts and crafts, and much more. In keeping with the celebration of the outdoors and spring, Milford's Spring Festival is also happening Saturday! This festival will take place on one of the largest town greens throughout New England and is an all-day, free event that has something for everyone. This weekend will also see the return of a popular spring festival! The Meriden Daffodil Festival will take place all weekend at Hubbard Park. This festival has been happening for over 40 years and attendees will get to enjoy over 600,000 blooming daffodils on display throughout the park. There will also be a parade, craft fair, dozens of specialty vendors, carnival rides, and live music! There will, of course, be plenty of food, from the classic apple fritter and BBQ to fried dough! "Hop" on over to Redding on Saturday for the Mark Twain Library's Frog Frolic! This is a special day for friends and family to come together to play, craft, and spend time with each other while listening to live music and enjoying food trucks! There will also be coffee, beer, and a sensational silent auction. All proceeds benefit the Mark Twain Library, founded by Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain). Come one, come all to Hartford this weekend for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey's "Greatest Show on Earth!" The show will run from Friday to Sunday at the XL Center. This is an immersive, live, family entertainment experience that is unlike anything you've ever seen before! It'll feature a musical journal bursting with catchy rhythms, beats, laughter, stunts, and acrobatic displays with comedic acts! Starting this weekend and lasting for the month of May, the 4th Annual Bicycles on Main returns to Wethersfield! On a beautiful spring day, you can come and visit the heart of Old Wethersfield's historic and cultural district to see decorated bicycles in front of classic colonial homes, museums, and local shops, restaurants, and other businesses. "Pop" on board at the Essex Steam Train & Riverboard Museum this weekend for an adventure with Thomas the Tank Engine! The Day Out with Thomas "Bubble Tour" will have guests enjoying fun-filled, family-friendly activities all day long with a 25-minute ride where you can meet Thomas. You can also meet Sir Topham Hatt, the railway controller on the Island of Sodor, and Percy the Small Green Engine!
