Yale grad student crosses $1 million mark after 28th straight win on 'Jeopardy!'

CULVER CITY, Calif. — The "Jeopardy!" winning streak for an Ohio State University graduate came to an end Monday night after he won 38 straight games.

Matt Amodio lost during Monday's night's episode. He failed to answer the Final Jeopardy! clue correctly and came in third on Monday’s show, his streak cut short by new champion Jonathan Fisher, an actor originally from Coral Gables, Florida. 

Amodio won $1,518,601 during his streak. Only Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer have won more than Amodio, each winning over $2 million.

Amodio is second in the game's history with the most consecutive wins. Jennings currently holds the record with 74 straight wins back in 2004.

Originally from the Cleveland area, Amodio graduated from Ohio State before heading to New Haven, Connecticut to pursue his Ph.D.
