HARTFORD, Conn. — Where Interstate 91 South runs parallel to Market Street in Hartford, there is more color and more pop. It comes courtesy of artist Corey Pane and his latest mural project which is now complete; a full wall celebrating Cirque Du Soleil’s new show called “Bazzar”.
The mural project is a collaboration between Cirque and the Rise Up Group which promotes public art projects across the state of Connecticut.
Matt Conway, the executive director of Rise Up said, “They (Cirque Du Soleil) reached out and said hey we want to create another mural and we want to work with Corey and within three weeks we were painting.”
Pane, who has painted two previous murals for Cirque Du Soleil said, “it’s all about fun, its colorful and trying show the process of creativity.”
Conway added that the vibrant colors and whimsical performers depicted in the mural complement the show. The mural is just a few hundred yards away from the big top in a parking lot for ticket holders.
Conway said, “I want this to evoke creativity, you now Cirque Du Soleil is about art and creativity, and this is a visual representation of art and creativity for this city.”
Pane added, “just feel joy and that’s my main thing, just make people happy.”
Cirque Du Soleil’s Bazzar runs through May 5 in Hartford.
