CONCORD, N.H. — Two artists are bringing the thrill of a treasure hunt to life in "Project Skydrop," happening now in New England and possibly in our neck of the woods.

Video game and real-world game designer Jason Rohrer, of New Hampshire, along with artist Tom Bailey, have commissioned a golden object - which contains 10 troy ounces of 99% gold valued at around $26,500 - and placed it in the woods somewhere on the East Coast of the United States.

This object resembles a "cyclone" on a base with dots and symbols etched onto the sides of the rings.

The real-life game started on Thursday, Sept. 19 and gave players a 500-mile radius to go off of. As the days go on, the circle gets smaller. On Wednesday, Sept. 25, the 121-mile radius covered Litchfield County, along with parts of Hartford, Tolland, northern Middlesex, and northern New Haven Counties, making it possible that the treasure is in the nutmeg state.

The circle also covered Wednesday the Albany, N.Y. area, as well as Eastern Massachusetts and a corner of New Hampshire. The radius shrinks each day at 9 a.m.

Project Skydrop is providing hints in the form of aerial shots of the treasure's location to those who sign up to become members. The membership fee is $20, and a portion of that goes into the ever-growing prize bounty pool.

There's also a Discord server with over 4,300 members signed up to share their thoughts during the treasure hunt.

Whoever ultimately finds the treasure must (peacefully) take a selfie video of them grabbing the golden object and then post the video to YouTube. Livestream cameras on the game's website will also show the winner snagging the object. That winner will keep the treasure and take home the bounty prize in Bitcoin.

If not found already, the game will end on Thursday, Oct. 10, when the radius will become one foot and give out the object's exact location.
