HARTFORD, Conn. — Riverfront Recapture brings the Riverfront Food Truck Festival to the banks of the Connecticut River and Downtown Hartford every year. After days of summer swelter that had most of the state sweating it out, a break in the weather means this year’s food truck festival will be on a roll.
“Hopefully we will have nice weather all three days, and it will be thousands of people," said Tara Cantor, the director of communications for Riverfront Recapture. "We will get a lot of overflows from “Connecticon” (at the CT Convention Center) and the Jazz Festival as well, so it’s going to be a busy weekend down here.”
Cantor added that there are 28 food trucks signed up and 11 vendors selling things like jewelry and clothing, plus a Mohegan Sun Tent showcasing chef demos.
Franco Bernardo, who owns six “New Haven Pizza Trucks” said he makes sure one of his trucks always comes to the Riverfront Food Truck Festival. “We come every year, and it just draws a lot of people.”
Bernardo, whose signature New Haven Style pies bring lines of customers added, “We come to Hartford because there are great people, there are great crowds and it’s just an awesome place to be.”
This year the Riverfront Food Truck Festival runs from Thursday, July 18 to Saturday, July 20 at Mortensen Riverfront Plaza from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Live music will be playing on the Riverfront Park stage each day. To learn more, click here.
