HARTFORD, Conn. — Are you ready for the Yeti?
The production team from the Glastonbury-based ad agency CashmanKatz is. Their “Don’t be Abominable” campaign has returned for the ninth year in a row, and their final touches for this year’s video were being shot by the “Love Mural” outside Parkville Market in Hartford.
Don’t be Abominable, quite simply, is a kindness campaign where the giant Yeti, a CashmanKatz staffer in a furry white costume, works his goodwill all across the area.
Amanda Mueller, a partner at CashmanKatz, said, “It’s important to make sure people understand how impactful kindness can be.”
Eric Cavoli, the creative director at CashmanKatz, said, “The campaign is really a response to all the less than nice and less than kind words and behaviors that are around all of us.”
This year, the Yeti’s theme is to surround himself around street art, so he has been popping up at murals across Connecticut spreading his message.
Mueller said, “We have wonderful murals across the state from Bridgeport to Norwich, and we are using that as a metaphor to remind people how beautiful things can be in our everyday life.”
Cavoli added, “What better way to demonstrate how color can brighten lives than featuring these wonderful murals throughout Connecticut...We should be kind all year round, and I think this is a reminder during the holidays that hopefully inspires people to do that.”
The CashmanKatz team will release this year’s “Don’t be Abominable” campaign on all of its digital platforms on Dec. 19. To learn more, click here.
